 Dates Announced for New Zealand Fashion Week

New Zealand Fashion Week is set to celebrate a decade of showcasing the best of Kiwi fashion to the world, with the announcement that the dates have been confirmed as September 21-26, 2010. Once again, the event will return to the Viaduct Harbour Marine Village in Auckland and initial support from designers has been encouraging.
“When we launched New Zealand Fashion Week in 2001, we did so with a vision to create a platform that provides the best opportunity to showcase this talent to our own domestic market and more importantly to the world,” says Pieter Stewart, managing director of New Zealand Fashion Week.
“As with any industry, there are ups-and-downs, but the success stories that New Zealand Fashion Week has helped create are many. In recent times, the New Zealand fashion industry has been hit, like the rest of the world, by the effects of a global economic recession. But, we’ve battled through and the 2010 event is going to be a great opportunity to toast this country’s achievements on the world stage.”
Organisers will be inviting buyers and media from around the globe, ensuring that developing Asian and Eastern markets are represented.
“In 2009, we worked hard to attract interest from key industry players throughout Asia, providing New Zealand designers with every opportunity to make inroads into these lucrative emerging markets,” says Stewart.
“This year, we will continue to develop these relationships and foster new ones, offering designers broader opportunities and exposure through key buyers, media and celebrities.”
Sponsors and designers will be announced in late-July and the final schedule for New Zealand Fashion Week 2010 will be released a week prior to the event.
