 Pioneer in Trend Forecasting to Visit New Zealand

Internationally renowned trend forecaster, publisher and curator, Li Edelkoort, will present her latest observations and interpretations at seminars in Auckland on May 6, 2010. As one of the world’s most sought-after trend researchers, she has huge sway on the products of tomorrow and her presentations in New Zealand promise to be provocative, informative and influential.
In 2003, Time magazine named Edelkoort one of the world’s 25 most influential people in fashion. And, in 2004, she was named one of the 30 most influential people in design by Icon magazine.
From her base in Paris, the Dutch-born trend pioneer conducts research and analysis for the world’s leading brands, and produces highly influential publications, including Bloom, Trend Union, InView and View on Colour.
Studying the links between art, fashion, design and consumer culture, Edelkoort analyses and advances the concepts, colours and materials that will be important for the next two or three years, because: “there is no creation without advance knowledge and without design a product cannot exist”.
Edelkoort will be joined on tour by Philip Fimmano. Born in Adelaide, he studied fashion design in Florence and New York before moving to Paris in 1991, to work as an assistant and right-hand to Edelkoort. A contributor to Trend Union, magazines and strategic studies, Fimmano has spoken at seminars and brainstorms for clients in Europe, the United States, India, Australia and New Zealand, and also guest lectures at the Royal College (London), F.I.T (New York), Polimoda (Florence) and the American Academy (Paris).
