Designer Direction Competition Channels Emerging Talent for Fashion TV Awards

(New Zealand) - June 2010

Global fashion channel, Fashion TV, has launched a new awards programme to help up-and-coming Australasian designers achieve international exposure. While the competition attracts an entry fee of NZ$244.00, Fashion TV has teamed-up with Designer Direction to offer three emerging New Zealand designers free entry and a professional photo shoot by Richard Kavanagh, with models from Clyne Management and make-up by M.A.C.

“There are so many talented emerging designers in New Zealand who deserve a place in this competition and we have three places to award. To help us decide, we’ve created a quick turn-around competition,” says Melody Wehipeihana from Designer Direction, a fashion website designed to support and nurture New Zealand designers.

The Designer Direction Competition will be judged by – fashion blogger, Isaac Hindin-Miller; Idiom’s Chris and Rachelle Duffy; and Kirsha Witcher from Salasai.

Entrants are required to submit conceptual drawings or images from previous collections by June 11, 2010.

The three winners will go on to compete in the Fashion TV Online Designer Awards, which close on July 4, 2010.
