Auckland Fashion Festival Planned For 2010
(New Zealand) - December 2009
The organisers of Air New Zealand Fashion Week (ANZFW), Pieter and Myken Stewart, are gearing-up to launch Auckland's first ever fashion festival. The consumer fashion event, which will be held in March 2010, aims to build on the public's rising interest in all things 'fashion' and is being modelled on the highly successful Melbourne Fashion Festival.
Myken Stewart told the NZ Herald that the event is basically the oppositie of Fashion Week and aimed purely at consumers. "It's inclusive, rather than exclusive. Anyone can get involved."
The Auckland Fashion Festival will follow Auckland Cup Week. At this stage, it's scheduled to open with a mammoth show of in-season A/W-2010 collections and a designer garage sale. The long-term vision will see it evolve into a week-long celebration that will include individual and group designer shows, retail and student exhibitions, fashion films, seminars (featuring top international speakers) and beauty events.
